Can a Marriage Counselor really Save Marriage?

October 6th, 2007

I had been married for 12 years before I finally realized that our marriage was not what it could be and that a marriage counselor was needed. I made many of the common mistakes that you can read about in any save marriage self-help book. Namely, no real communication aside from what’s required to co-exist on a day to day basis. The other big mistake was my tendency to be closed mouthed and guarded over the family finances.

Communication is a word that strikes fear into the hearts of most men. This was an understatement for me. When I tried to correct this and communicate better it was like hauling hay in other words it was pure blood sweat and tears work. Why was this? It’s easy to understand when you stop and think about it. Men are simply more focused on themselves than on anyone else pure and simple. Women are generally focused on those around them. Their well being depends heavily on the well being of others.

A trained marriage counselor will help you to understand this and find ways to painlessly overcome these short comings and possible even save a marriage
